Every year we start thinking of Valentine’s Day the day after all the Christmas ornaments are removed from the store. Love and romance are the first words that come to mind when we begin decorating the store. Like many of the lyrics from Louie Armstrong’s It’s a Wonderful World, “I see friends shaking hands and saying How do you do? They’re really saying I love you…” Valentine’s Day is a holiday that celebrates the feeling of true love. Even though the traditional idea of romance is the love shared between two people, the way you decorate a room can also be romantic.
“I see trees of green, red roses too…” One way to create a romantic inspired room is to incorporate the traditional colors of the holiday, reds and whites. “I see skies of blue and clouds of white…” White and cream accent accessories and linens will endure the test of time, they are classic and will never go out of style. Sometimes, you need to break with routine and spice up your home. “The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night…” In relationships, it may be a special night out or candy and flowers; but, in a home this can be accomplished with lots of color such as candy apple red or majestic blues. “The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky…” A table with white linens is classically beautiful; however, if you add some red vases, pottery or candles for the centerpiece with white or red napkins, the table is transformed instantly into a romantic setting that will cause heads to turn. “I see babies crying, I watch them grow…´ If it is the bedroom you want to change, a simple bed with blue linens is timeless; however, if you include bolder blues with a mix of white and cream and a tender surprise of red, the bed transforms into a beautiful get away from the bustle of the day, a place you’ll love to be calm and serene. “They’ll learn much more, than I’ll ever know…” The contrast of the classic and the exciting can create a romantic look that will cause you to fall head over heels.
